The revelation that the perceiver affects the perceived was a notion that turned the physical universe into something entirely other, at least in terms of how the thinkers of their time were perceiving that universe. If the one who is seeing is also affecting the thing they are looking at, then there is no objective point from which to measure anything. All measurements are subject to closer examination, and every closer examination will continue to affect the phenomenon. This seems to suggest that everything is dependent on everything, and that there are no subjects, no objects, and no moments that can exist on their own.

This revelation was not the property of Heisenberg in the early part of the 20th century, because it was the same revelation that formed the center of Buddhist thought quite a few centuries earlier. Today, with movies like “Tree of Life” in popular consciousness, the connections between quantum physics and Buddhism are probably not very surprising. Within the scientific and spiritual communities, however, the connections have been subject to consideration and deliberation for some time. It may be a far stretch to look at some of Einstein’s more famous quotes, such as the quip on god playing dice, from a Buddhist perspective. Perhaps the connections are only incidental. On the other hand, looking past the surface of his biography into the more complex spiritual ideas, there are more connections than differences.

When the Dalai Lama visits the University of Innsbruck to discuss quantum theory, then things really are taking a sudden leap, and one that would resemble some of the more unstable molecules, if there were not already a lineage of mutual interest between the subjects. Where some of the basic physics games can help young people develop an interest and appreciation for the natural world in general, and scientific phenomena in particular, there is always something a little big magical about them. The physical world is an enchanted and enchanting place, and it does seem to have a way of reflecting back when one starts to contemplate it. Sometimes it seems as though studying it, putting it under a microscope and examining the strange behaviors of its cells, is a step in the direction of absolutes. Revelations that turn these experiments in new directions, away from any positivist sense of continuity, can offer the same insights that meditation can. This connection is enough to keep the relationship between science and mysticism active, as if there were two sides of the same coin, unless there is no coin at all.

Meditation in a cold place is an experience that is impossible to replicate anywhere else. Of course, in the bigger sense, everything that is, is right now and right here. But anyone who’s lived in warm places and cold places has had the experience that only the cold can provide.

Calgary does have its temperate seasons, and there are some rather gorgeous days even in the middle of winter. It’s rare, however, that someone new will move to town solely because of the weather. People come to find an apartment here for the same reasons they do anywhere else: family, friends, a job, a love. People who have strong connections with their meditation centers back home are able to find a community here that they can learn from. There is a very nice array of centers and styles for meditation in Calgary, with a vibrant and always-shifting community of practitioners.

It always takes awhile to settle in anywhere, and in regards to spiritual practices, that can be a more delicate transition. Although every city has its share of yoga studios, it can take awhile to find the right one. And it is a lot like the lessons in meditation, where sometimes it takes time to just sit and be, in order to realize that this is the right place right now. It can also be a question of finding the right teacher, and that can take a very long time. Until that perfect moment does arrive, however, there are some lovely offerings in Calgary, for practitioners of all levels.

For strict meditation, there are meditation and zen centers where the focus is the same as it is everywhere else in the world: on the breath. The centers are welcome to newcomers, and can also certainly accommodate those who have been studying for some time. In any of these communities, one can have the profound experience of waking up. It is a remarkable thing, too, to come to a new city where it might be a little daunting at first, and make discoveries while it is freezing cold and there is snow on the ground. The winters in the Great White North can be daunting, and even overwhelming, but with meditation, one can become more attuned to the subtle changes as well as the sudden shifts. Becoming connected to the cycles of nature here can be as transformative as anywhere else, and that’s to say, just right.

The holiday season brings with it a time of great celebration and joy. It also tends to bring out the nostalgic mindset of many people. They reflect on the year as well as on their lives, past dreams and ambitions for the future. This is the perfect source for New Year’s resolutions, though unfortunately many of them don’t last into the second half of January. So, how do we transform these thoughts and frames of mind into a progressive new beginning? Well, it might sound more challenging than what it is, or perhaps to some it seems like a novelty orientation. However, with the coming year, the pivotal and to some controversial 2012, there are some great new perspectives that can come into play and manifest in our lives.

One of the time concerns on many people’s lists right now is simply how to afford the holidays. The stress of finances has been paramount in our lives for the past few years, as well as lives for many of us. In addition, saving for the holidays and then surviving the diverse activity and gift fees can also contribute to the stress. Many people at this time seek out alternative financial services to get them through. Others would like to but wonder if this is the best idea. You can find great resources and connections through Money Mutual on Linkedin
as well as other sites. If you’re having major financial issues, as many people are, during this time period, look to these information sites and get as much advice as possible before making your decisions.

Once you’ve come to terms with your immediate financial needs and just accepted that you might need additional resources such as a payday loan , relax and enjoy the season. It will completely eliminate your gift giving efforts to remain overly stressed about the money you’re spending. Instead think ahead to 2012, and as one of those voices in your head immediately tells you it will be just like the years before, or perhaps worse, laugh a little and know it’s simply a neurologically programmed response. We have the ability to chance our futures and our minds. Popular figures like Dr. Wayne Dyer have all the teachings to move us forward and activate a brand new state of existence. So, 2012 is supposed to be the end of the world? Keep in mind, the second half of that phrase is “as we know it.” One of the keys to changing our lives is to live as though the change has occurred. To want change and to dream about it is to keep ourselves locked in the experience. To have change, you must begin from the end. For instance, if you pray, instead of asking God to help you, thank him for it. Express gratitude for your life and its abundance. And base your actions and decisions on a perspective from having achieved your goal. This is truly better than being trapped in the endless desire of feeling need and wanting rescue. Try it.

Meditating on water, whether it’s the ocean, a lake, a stream, or the element, is one of the most common images for inner vision and spiritual seeking. It is certainly related to the basic relation between the human body, composed of so much water, and the rest of nature. Connecting to water is connecting to the “is-ness” of everything, and in a very physical, literal way. But there are also other connections, and these are the ones that put it into the realm of pure poetry.

In the more mainstream realms of meditation, as well as the esoteric, water plays a significant role. When someone is disturbed and needs fast relief, they can imagine themselves in their “happy place,” and this is often somewhere close to, or in, a body of water. In deeper states of formal meditation, the mind is likened to the surface of a pond, free of ripples and smooth like glass.

Some will go further into the realm of metaphor, and may spend some time meditation on the current of the ocean. This connects the wave, as well as the meditating subject, to the particular energies of the moon. It also comes from root words that can mean a movement, or a moment in the present, and both of these are profoundly transformational in spiritual practices. Likewise, contemplating a break in the currents can bring one to understand that the nature of internal revelation is similar to natural ruptures, and there is nothing unusual or particularly notable about them, except for the fact that they do happen all the time, and things are changing all the time. Water is essential to nature as it is essential to an inner spiritual life.

It’s not surprising, then, that there are so many fountains found in meditation centers. These can range from the small, novelty kind, to the full-scale fountains that may stand in the center of things. Individuals often add fountains as special touches in their own homes, but it doesn’t need to be cost-prohibitive. Meditation, like a clear mind, is something that does not depend on wages, and isn’t made better by money spent. Very small, portable fountains can be bought for a small price, or even made at home using simple materials. For some, even a glass of water is enough to bring water into the meditation experience, and it has the power to transform as well as any other body of water.

Quieting the mind is one of the most difficult things there is. One of the most ironic things about a calm mind is that it is not at all challenging until one decides to try it. For everyone who is living in the world, achieving a quiet mind is something that is sought after at one time or another, and for those who devote more time to it than others, it has spiritual benefits that unfold in unimaginable ways. For writers, those who are engaged in the life-long task of putting their lives on paper, or on a computer screen, the need for a quiet mind is perhaps entirely apparent. It is as necessary to make the words flow, like having the right cheap wheels for a particular journey.

However, when a writer is in the middle of a creative spell, the mind is anything but quiet. For writers like Sam Shepard, the connections between silence and words are hard to draw, because so much of the material comes from a place that is entirely furious, and the opposite of quiet. It is no coincidence that his first artistic practice was as a drummer, and it is also no coincidence that half the noise of drumming is the silence. Silence and sound do need each other, and they certainly feed each other. Rhythm depends on it, and rhythm is the root of poetry, music, dance, and theatre.

Like many writers of what some call “American Realism,” there are tendencies in his work toward excess in action and emotion, acts of violence, and enormous personal and cultural upheaval. Many writers of the generation before his were obsessed with the same tendencies, and it’s no error that they continue through generations; there is something singularly fascinating about people at extreme variance. At the same time, it does seem that the lifestyles of the writers of previous generations is harder to maintain. So it becomes fascinating to see writers getting older these days. Shepard’s relentless driving might be part of a culture of necessity, like getting new truck tires at www.performanceplustire.com, finding clothes at outdoor markets, and boots from the right dealer. It could also very well be its own form of meditation, where long hours doing a singular action has the same result, no matter what the action is. At some point, the mind has to become quiet, so that the silence can play against the noise, in acts of sheer poetry.

It is a sad fact of life that many, many families are going through foreclosure at this time. The economy is in a bad way, people have been losing their jobs, and new ones are hard to come by. Families who don’t make their mortgage payments for a few months risk going into foreclosure. Foreclosure means losing your home and having it on your credit report for over seven years.

If you are facing foreclosure speak with your lending institution about it. They will often work to avoid the foreclosure as it does not benefit them. You can also contact Homeowner’s HOPE or the National Foundation for Credit Counseling as these institutions have advisors whom you can talk to about your personal circumstances. They can counsel you on your options.

You will face immediate problems with your mortgage if your payment is over fifteen days late. This will incur you a late fee. If you miss the next mortgage payment, meaning that you owe two payments you will have to make both payments along with the late fees to get out of trouble. If you owe three payments or more then the lender may start the process of foreclosure. You will also have to pay any legal fees along with your back payments and late charges if you want to get back on track.

Remember the process of foreclosure will hurt your credit rating. This will cause you severe difficulties if you are looking to rent or buy a new home. If you are facing financial difficulties caused by loss of income or the breakup of a relationship then attempt to be proactive in your dealings with your lending institution. Communication will help you to find a way out of it – and ensure you know all your options.

There are numerous recognized health benefits of physical activities such as yoga and tai chi , and other meditative or spiritual based practices. Some of them are of the obvious nature, they can greatly contribute to an overall physical fitness and health, while the stress level reductions they tend to provide their practitioners is just as important, though slightly less quantifiable. In addition, beginning some type of daily meditation habit has become extremely common and the practice is being incorporate into more lives and lifestyles than ever before imagined. Find some next day blinds coupons to save you money on creating that special meditative environment in your own home.

There was a time when a large percentage of the mainstream population considered mediation to be an exotic and frequently laughable practice that was relegated to a freaky fringe population. However, it’s becoming more understood that the benefits of this habit can be felt in the simple practice of taking a moment of silence or taking a few deep breaths throughout the day or during a particularly stressful moment. And while these moments are not as in-depth, comprehensive or overall impactful, they do carry some of the same elements as the committed mediation practices hold.

In addition to the obvious health benefits related to the physical exercise that is part of both yoga and tai chi, there are the previously mentioned un-quantifiable, to an extent, which is related to the stress relieving factor. This is increased enormously with a habit of mediation, which can also be part of the yoga and tai chi practice. It is accepted that people who participate regularly in these practices have lower blood pressure and respond better to daily stressful events. In addition they are able to let go of the day’s stress and leave their work on the job. This is a skill that is only dreamed about by most people, and when put into practice in everyday life, it can actually add years to yours.

Reducing anxiety levels brought on by stress and stressful events is another benefit of regular meditative and yogic practices. Feeling a sense of physical fitness and mental well-being will also help us to avoid many of the serious health issues that are brought on by lifestyle factors. Heart disease, which is still the number one cause of death in women, and reducing the amount of stress you feel is one of the best ways to avoid it. Of course exercise and proper diet are also important, though yoga and tai chi can provide a good work out and also contribute to healthy eating habits by most of the people that practice these arts regularly. It’s your life, it’s your health and to a large extend, it’s your choice. Remember, when you are creating your mediation room, always go with the best choices, look into the Next Day Blinds awards to know you’re getting the best in window coverings.

The majestic land of Cyprus enthralls you with its scenic beauty and dramatic history. Cradled by Asia, Africa and Europe from the three sides, Cyprus enjoys the luxury of being Aphrodite’s paradise. Cyprus’ exotic quality and unique beauty is reminiscent of the fascinating assemblage of invaders who gave the island something new and unique each time they visited. Draped with archaeological marvels of the Byzantine Empire, the heritage of Cyprus is steeped in its rich culture and diversification. The golden beaches and picturesque coastline is said to be the land of the Greek gods and especially of Aphrodite, goddess of love. Culturally unique with a scenic backdrop, Cyprus is the dream of the honeymooners and other visitors alike. In fact, it would be hard to find any place along the coast as scenic and romantic as Cyprus.

The once in a lifetime trip, the honeymoon, is that one vacation that needs careful focus on the way it is planned, since the last thing you want to handle during this celebratory time is in mishap that could result from poor planning. When planning a vacation to Cyprus, the honeymooners should keep in mind certain basic facts to make it a memorable trip. The first step for any great trip is the proper arrangement of air tickets, hotel reservations, and other bookings which might prove useful for their stay.

While other vacations focus predominantly on sightseeing and activities, for the honeymooners the vacation is a way to focus on each other, to learn more about each other and to share the very start of their lives together. Thus the second point to be taken into consideration is planning ahead of time the places where they would like to visit. When it comes to romantic and scenic locations, Cyprus has a plethora of places to choose from.

The dotted village on the coastline and the sea provides them with many romantic moments to cherish for a lifetime. Since a lot of time will be spent in each others’ company, one should keep it in mind the importance of booking the right place for the stay where you can enjoy the scenic beauty as well as get some privacy. Cyprus has the most authentic of places like inns, guest houses, bed and breakfasts among other accommodations which give you the authentic Cyprian hospitality to the modern hotels providing you with honeymoon suites and other facilities. Who knows, maybe the young lovers may even be inspired to checks out Cyprus villas for sale, in case they never want the honeymoon to end!

The trip can be even more memorable if you know a bit about the local customs so as to feel the real flavor of Aphrodite’s birthplace which sparks of passion and romance with every breath. With the rugged coastline adorning the island, the forests adding to the picturesque value of the place, the honeymooners can indeed find themselves in Aphrodite’s lair, seeping in the sun and the culture of the majestic Cyprus.

Canada is similar enough to the US that most Americans really do not consider it foreign. Instead, they think of it as a slightly different extension of their own country. So, when they imagine going on an exciting foreign vacation, Canada is probably very far down on their lists, if it even enters their minds at all.

This vast northern nation actually has a lot to offer those who are willing to explore it. Due to its continent spanning size it, like its neighbor to the south, offers a range of different climates and landscapes, each with their own appeal. From the coastal islands and beaches to the enormous central prairies to the majestic Rocky Mountains and stunning glacier landscape, there is an amazing array of natural beauty to discover in Canada.

It is a huge country. Most visitors will do well to limit themselves to a smaller region or area for their trip. There are Canada vacation packages that explore each natural region while others focus on specific cities or special events. Tourists can see Canada by bus, train, car or even cruise along the coastline. Whether they are seeking an urban adventure or a wilderness vacation, they will not be disappointed by all that Canada has to offer.

If you have ever wondered about how psychology relates to the workplace, you may want to consider studying industrial organizational psychology. This newer branch of applied psychology is referred to by a variety of names: organizational psychology, work psychology, occupational psychology , and even personnel psychology. The term IO psychology is gaining popularity within the field and that is what you would look for when investigating degree programs.

If you are interested in how people work in large organizations, such as government agencies, large corporations and non-profits, or even those ivy covered educational institutions, you should consider enrolling in an industrial organizational psychology program . In addition to giving you insights into how the minds of employees and the way that organizations are structured and function, you will be gaining skills that will help you land a job helping those agencies and companies improve the daily experience of their workers.

On the surface the study of IO Psychology reads like training for human resources. Psychology looks deeper into these issues than business training. The underlying motivations and personality traits that affect group behavior and inform corporate culture are examined.
