Things to Keep in Mind When Visiting Rome

When you travel to Rome for the first time there are a few things that you should keep in mind. One, bring walking shoes. It is a beautiful city and there are plenty of sidewalks that you will want to walk along. In addition, there are some incredible landmarks just outside the city and you will likely be doing a bit of hiking while you’re there. You will absolutely want to visit the ancient Colosseum and while this is certainly going to be an amazing adventure, you will want to have comfortable walking shoes to explore it and the other.
In addition, you will want to plan on spending more time sight seeing than what you typically alot for. This is because visitors are inclined to be surprised by the amount of time they actually stand and stare at objects or buildings. The Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica and other buildings in Vatican City are so spectacularly designed that they are truly stunning to viewers. And the artwork of the Renaissance greats like Rafael and Michelangelo is incredibly beautiful and visually amazing. People can and do stand for hours under the Chapel ceiling and in front of other great art.
Finally, and this point is really being made to remind you that you are going to have the time of your life when you visit this ancient city and stay in a Rome hotel , be prepared to have an appetite. While you will spend time standing and looking, it cannot be overstated that you will also do a lot of walking around. And there’s something about ancient historic landmarks, amazing architecture and great art that inspire hunger in their observers. Not to mention, the food in Rome is absolutely divine.
