Angel of the Waters Sculpture in New York Central Park

Tom decided to break away from his group for a bit and try and check out some of the smaller art galleries of New York. He had gone there on a special academic field trip with his high school and that afternoon they had managed to get some free time. Technically they were being supervised, but they were supposed to be watching a dance performance in Central Park and their chaperone let them kind of spread out and sit where they wanted. In all, they were a responsible and trustworthy group of kids and Tom let this reputation be the cover for his quick get-away. Based on the how long the performance had been going on and how long it was expected to last, Tom figured he had an hour and half to find some art.
Of course he knew this wasn’t much time but it was really his only chance to get out on his own in New York City. He had been under the supervision of school designated chaperones since his arrival in the city and he had to share his room in the New York USA hotel with three other people. Tom just really needed some time and space to himself, and he figured there was no better place to find it than in New York.
So, he acted like he was simply wandering to the crowd periphery as some of the other students had done. He watched the dance and at a particularly complicated and interesting move Tom ducked down and quickly made his way to a tree covering. That was it he thought. He checked his watch and headed across the vast green. He quickly found himself at the Bethesda Terrace and was struck by the intriguing water fountain. He saw that the fountain was designed by Emma Stebbins and was created in the late 1800s. The sculpture was called Angel of Waters. Tom looked around and noticed two photographers taking pictures of what must have been a model, he decided. He noticed lots of people taking pictures everywhere and wished he had his camera. He suddenly realized that he had been watching people for over an hour and thought he should get back the dance quickly. He was amazed at how fast the time passed and luckily arrived back at the dance just as it was ending.
